High Level Panels (HLPs)

Africa is confronted with a range of interconnected challenges encompassing climate change, water scarcity, environmental degradation, population growth, inequalities, poverty, food insecurity, and health risks. These issues are fostering instability and impeding prosperity across the continent, significantly affecting the daily lives and opportunities of African citizens. The interconnections among the economic, political, and security interests of African nations emphasize the urgent necessity for innovative, multidisciplinary, locally-driven solutions tailored to the diverse needs of African communities.

Collaborative efforts among governments, educational institutions, NGOs, and the private sector are essential to promote water education, drive technological innovation, and enhance community capacity for sustainable water management. Emphasizing water education and capacity-building is crucial for fostering water security and sustainable development, alongside increased investments in water infrastructure across Africa.
